"New" Original Paintings For Sale

I made the decision to put these two original pastel paintings up for sale. I painted them for myself a couple years ago and have had them in my private collection. I hope that someone will fall in love with them and hopefully purchase them as a set. They go quite nicely together.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Morning Over a Mountain City

"Morning Over a Mountain City" 5 by 7, Pastel Painting
It felt so good to get into the studio and paint this morning! It's been over a week. I finally got all my table runners made for the holidays, and I am so relieved. I came across this picture in an artists reference book that I have and I just had to paint it. I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out. And I just have to say that the original looks so much better in person. After scanning it, some of the softness is taken away.
I completed this painting with various brands of soft pastels, but I used mostly Mount Visions. The surface is pastelbord, of course (have a big shipment of that coming!). I was thinking this might be a small study for a larger version of this. We'll see.
I've been having this itch to paint landscapes lately, and I just don't know why. They don't feel as comfortable or quite as enjoyable to me as animals and still lives. I guess it's safe to say that I'm still testing the waters and not exactly sure which subjects I enjoy doing the most.
Hope you had a great weekend! :)

Field of Flowers

"Field of Flowers" 5 by 7, Pastel Painting

I've been wanting to do some more landscapes and this is one I did this morning. It's 5 by 7 on pastelbord, completed with all Mount Vision pastels. It turned out okay. I've been feeling that my paintings lack emotion and feeling, so I thought I could better express that through landscapes. Well, it's clear that I need a lot more practice.

I deeply admire Paula Ford, and I would love to take one of her workshops. Her landscapes are just incredible. I'll just keep working on it. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sunset Pier - Complete

"Sunset Pier" 11 by 14, Pastel Painting

Well here is the completed painting! I didn't have to add too much today. I just darkened some of the darks and added a little more color to the water. I decided on the name "Sunset Pier" - I think it fits pretty well :). I wasn't sure I was even going to include the pier in the painting, but I'm glad I did.

Now I have to begin the second one. It will be similar to this one, as they will eventually be hung up together in my living room. It feels really nice just to paint for me for a change! :)

Untitled - Work In Progress

I thought I would share a picture with you today of a painting I'm working on.
This isn't the greatest picture of it. The colors look rather muted and dull, but you get the idea. I bought these two frames for my living room and had the perfect idea of the paintings that I could do for them. So this is the first one. I don't have too much more to do with it. I just need to add some lights, darks and other details (the size is 11 by 14).
I thought you might like to see my little work area. It's kinda messy and cramped, but I like it. :) I will post a picture when I complete the painting. Hopefully that will be tomorrow :)
