Exciting News!

So I have a bit of exciting news to share today... I was contacted by a production company working on the Smurfs 2 and they want to have my hand painted cigar boxes as part of the set again! Yay!! I had no idea they were even doing a second movie. So the release form is signed and it's a done deal! The movie will be out next Fall I do believe. :)

Other than that I've been hard at work on custom orders. I have about 8 projects lined up, 5 of which are quilts needing to be quilted on my long arm. Busy busy!

I hope you are enjoying your week!

Cards and Quilts

I just thought I'd share what I've been working on the past couple days. The table runner above I made today. The fabric is all from the "Grand Finale" line by Moda. And it was my very first attempt at applique. I did some little leaves and acorns. It definitely takes a bit more time to do, but it was fun and it's different. This runner is listed on Etsy for $32.00 if anyone is interested.

These are a few cards that I made yesterday. I use my decorative painting style when painting these cards, much like I use for my cigar boxes. I had several of these listed on Etsy but no one seemed interested, so I took them to the gallery instead. I've sold quite a few, so I thought it would be fun to make some more. I don't know about any of you, but I still like to send cards. We are all so much into technology now that people don't send letters and cards like they used to. Maybe I'm just old fashioned. :)

I hope you all have a great night!

My Art In The Smurfs

The Smurfs is coming out next Friday! If you follow my blog you already know that some of my hand painted cigar boxes were purchased for the set of this movie. This was well over a year ago and it's so exciting that the release is almost here! I'm looking forward to seeing the movie and trying to spot my boxes. Luckily my brother and sister will be visiting next week so we can all see it together. And the movie looks cute, so you should take your family to see it. :)

New Hand Painted Items

I just wanted to share some of my latest hand painted items. After high school I took a break from art and when I got back into it I started doing decorative painting. I just loved it. I have continued to paint in that way on my cigar boxes but I recently decided to paint on some other items that I had.

This cute painted plate and stand are listed on Etsy for $15.
This plate and stand are also listed on Etsy for $15.

I love this candle holder/jar but I had trouble getting a good picture of it. I painted it with these sweet soft purple metallic dragonflies. It's listed on Etsy for $12.

It's not exactly fine art, but I really enjoy it and others seem to as well.

I hope you have a great evening!

More Custom Boxes

I received a custom order from this lovely lady in Tennessee for these boxes. One is a wedding gift for her son, and the others are gifts for her granddaughters. I had used up my inventory of cigar boxes on my order from the Flint Institute of Arts recently, so I had to order these boxes and wait for them to arrive before I could even paint them. Luckily this customer was willing to wait however long necessary, for these boxes. To show my appreciation for her patience, I included a couple mini paintings with easels for her granddaughters. I'm always happy to do something extra for a special customer. :)
These painted boxes have been a hit lately! Needless to say I'm placing orders for more boxes just in case!

Custom Cigar Boxes

I thought today would be a great day to complete my custom cigar boxes for the Flint Institute of Arts. They requested six custom boxes, and selected an additional six from my Etsy shop. I had almost forgotten how much I enjoyed painting these boxes. I believe it's been almost a year since I last painted cigar boxes.
The 12 boxes for the exhibit at the Flint Institute of Arts are all painted with bright, bold flowers. I hope that I will be able to attend the exhibit myself, to see my boxes displayed.
I hope you all have a great week!

New Item of the Week

This week's item-of-the-week is a hand painted cigar box with red and purple fuschia flowers. This is actually one of my favorite cigar boxes. It is being offered at a special discount price of $17, and will be shipped for free. It's not too early to be thinking about holiday gifts for your friends and family :). Have a great week!
