New Rice Bags

I just added a bunch of new rice bags to my Etsy shop. The weather is getting colder and it's the perfect time to start making use of these bags. If you're not familiar with rice bags, they can be heated in the microwave and used for aches and pains, to keep warm, or to toss into your bed at night. They can also be kept in the freezer for "boo boo bags."

I have loved using these bags since I was a kid, and all the adorable prints make them even more fun. They're reasonably priced and would make great gifts and stocking stuffers.

Have a great weekend!

Free Shipping on Etsy

I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving! Mine was pretty quiet, as it was just my husband and myself. He even did the cooking!

In the spirit of "Black Friday" I thought I'd have a sale on Etsy this weekend. Now through midnight on Sunday, I'm offering free shipping on all handmade items (this excludes pre cut fabric). Just use coupon code "freeshipping" at checkout.

Happy Holidays!!

Fun Quilts

Hi all, hope you had a great weekend! I just thought I'd share some of my latest quilting projects with you. I've been trying to branch out a bit and do something different.

This is a super cute stack of quilted coasters!
More coasters from the "Figgy Pudding" fabric line, one of my favorites for the holidays.

This is a quilted candle mat made of prairie points. It's so unique and different- there is nothing else like this on Etsy. It's nice because you can keep the points lifted up, like the in photo, or you can keep them down.

Another candle mat made from the "Figgy Pudding" line.

Both of these new items would make completely affordable and adorable gifts! A set of 4 coasters is $10 and the candle mats are $12. I'm thinking about making some holiday place mats, perhaps "rag" style next. I'm just loving quilting lately. :)

Have a wonderful Monday!!

Rag Quilted Table Runners

I just listed a bunch of new rag quilted table runners to my Etsy shop. Rag quilts are the latest trend in quilting. Unlike traditional quilting, with a rag quilt the wrong sides are sewn together, leaving the ends exposed. Those ends are snipped and the runner is laundered. What you're left with is soft frayed ends. They're really cute and people just love them. Here are a few that I listed:

"Jovial" Rag Quilted Table Runner
"Ready Set Snow" Rag Quilted Table Runner

"Fruitcake" Rag Quilted Table Runner

I think these runners are a ton of fun and they make wonderful gifts. They don't cost too much ($28 plus shipping) and since everyone has a table of some sort they will work for anyone. If you like them, I wouldn't wait because these tend to go fast. And I'm not sure that I'm going to make anymore this year.

Hope you all had a great weekend. Can you believe this is my 251st blog post?

Christmas Poinsettia

"Christmas Poinsettia" 5 by 7, Pastel Painting
Christmas Poinsettia is my latest painting and the first holiday themed painting I've ever done. I tried to loosen up with this one, and used mostly pastel sticks (no pencils). And for the first time I used my Diane Townsend iridescent pastels, and you cannot even tell by the scan. The green-yellow that you see is actually this beautiful light green/gold iridescent color. I also used a little silver iridescent on the highlights. So needless to say, this little painting looks so much better in person.
Happy Holidays!

Holiday Quilts and Update

I have been quilting away this past weekend. I made a total of 16 quilted table runners! Half are for my Etsy shop and half will be going to the gallery this week. Here is a little look at a few that I listed on Etsy today. These are $28 each, and they really make great gifts. This is my busiest time for quilt sales and I know these will find good homes :).

Just a few other things.. The gallery (the Stillwater Art Guild Gallery) is having a trunk show that will run all December. This show will take place in the River Room and some of us artists are including some of our reduced price art. I will be adding some table runners, hand painted cigar boxes, and maybe a few other things.
Also happening at the gallery this week is the Art on Main event. There will be a meet the artist reception on Friday evening from 4 until 9.
Just another side note, my blog was named one of 2010's top pastel blogs by onlinegraphicdesigndegree.com. :)
Have a nice night!

Holiday Table Runners

I thought I would share some of my holiday quilted table runners with you. Some of you don't even know that I quilt as well as paint. This time of year is a busy one for me, as far as my quilting. Here are a few table runners that I just listed on Etsy:
Woodland Holiday Table Runner
12 Days of Christmas Table Runner
North Woods Botanical Rag Table Runner
Fruitcake Rag Table Runner
There are others listed on my website, and I will be listing more over the next month or so. But if you see something that you like, I wouldn't wait, because these sell quickly.
I hope you all had a great weekend!

Holiday Quilts

I thought it was about time I got a jump on my holiday quilts for Etsy and I can't believe people are purchasing them already! I thought for sure that I had a couple of months before I needed to put them in my Etsy shop. I've sold 3 holiday table runners in the past 24 hours. The worst part is that I haven't assembled them yet! Oops! I bought doubles of the panels above and never got around to putting them together. I thought I could list them, and assemble them as soon as I received the order. I didn't expect that to happen so soon.
So anyway, I wanted to let you all know that I think I'm going to be spending most of my free time quilting, at least for a while. I've already stocked up on my holiday fabric, and since people seem to be interested in it now, I think I will continue quilting. I really miss painting though! It's been weeks since I've painted.... Ahh.. I'll get back to it as soon as I get a jump on these quilts.
If you're interested, check out my Etsy shop. And get them quick! They're going fast! :)
